6-27-16 Sat

Busy week this week. I had my 1st physical therapy appointment at Kaiser. I've had this problem right in the area where they did the 1st hip replacement and of course I thought it was going south. My primary physician felt it was the inflammation of that area. The physical therapist did some testing and decided it was tendinitis. Anyway he give me some exercises to do and also to do an ice pack which is always fun. Lord willing it will heal up soon.

I wanted to share a couple of things with you. The 1st is a picture taken on Father's Day at dinner with Joe and Hilda, the boys and Daniel. The picture is of Daniel and Matthew. The kids really like him.

Then the next thing I want to share with you was the Father's Day card I got from Joe and Hilda. I thought it was very funny. I got a nice card from Daniel also. But it had some personal things that he wrote in there and it's nothing bad it's very nice, I just didn't feel that it was right for me to share with everybody. It has to do with me helping him get his new life started during this past year.

My good friend Dr. Brad is coming down for this  next week to visit family. His 2 girls like to go surfing so I'm going to head down to the beach on Saturday morning and take my surfboard so that one of the girls can use it while they are here.

Of course I need to post one of my pictures of Harriet which I do each week. I sure miss my girl.

I hope you have a great weekend and Maranatha!

6-18-16 Sat

Well I've come to the realization I'm not a cook! Maybe you've figured this out long before I did. I don't know if it's just too late for me to start learning how to do this or not? It seems that occasionally I get something cooked properly, but most of the times not so much. I sure miss Harriet (and her cooking).

Actually I'd love to have her back even if I needed to learn how to cook. It was just one of many things that she did so well.

A friend of mine whose name is John contacted me this past week. I've not seen him for a long time and it was great to reconnect. His 1st wife died of cancer, so we have things in common. It's just interesting how life goes.

Last Sunday we went out for dinner and I talked Samuel into eating the whipped cream off the top of his shake, check out the pics.

I'm taking our grandsons out for an outing this morning. Then this afternoon going over to my friend Dick and Jan's house. Their son died and went home to be with the Lord. They're doing a celebration of life at their home this afternoon. Really great people.

Tomorrow's message will be on suffering and faith, taken from the book of Philippians. What are your 1st thoughts when you are in a situation that you don't want to be in? I think that the majority of people's responses a prayer to God that says, "Lord get me out of here". But is that really how we should handle suffering?

I hope that you'll be able to make it to the house the Lord tomorrow and praise him because he is worthy of all glory and honor and praise!

Frank

6-11-16 Sat

During the past week two of our grandsons had birthdays, Samuel and Timothy. Samuel turned 10 and Timothy celebrated his 17th birthday. I mentioned in last week's blog that I was going to take the grandkids out to show them where there great grandparents are buried and also where I spread Harriet's ashes at 15th St. and Del Mar.

We stopped off at boomers on the way home. It was formerly called the family fun Center at 805 and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard if you're familiar with that area. Here's a picture of Samuel working hard.
I usually spend Saturday mornings with the grandchildren. We have a lot of fun together and I really enjoy being with them. I must confess that I never had that experience. When my parents moved to the United States all of our relatives are in Europe. So I never met my grandparents. The only relatives I've ever had the pleasure of meeting or my cousin René and his wife Bernadette along with their children who came to visit the United States. Really super nice people. I still correspond with them through email.

I hope that you will make the time to go to the House the Lord to worship the Creator, our redeemer Jesus Christ tomorrow. It's a choice, you either choose to make time to go to the House of the Lord or excuses on why you don't need too or can't. As I used to tell Harriet "I can't" lives on I won't Street. And you know what they say about excuses, everybody's got one. Time to make right decisions.

6-4-16 Sat.

We had movie night last night at church. We watched the movie "Risen" which came out earlier this year. It is about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, but from and unbelievers perspective. The main character was the Tribune that was in charge of the crucifixion, then the burial of Jesus. Of course then he was in charge of finding the body of Christ. Well done and worth watching. Not 100% accurate, but aside from that, very well done, everyone liked it. I brought the grand kids to watch the movie too.

The only news is about my dumb right hip. I went the Dr. and told him that the pain in the area where I had my first hip replacement about 6 years keeps getting worse. He seems to think that the muscles in that area are inflamed and recommended physical therapy, which I will start at the end of the month. Not sure it will work, but I have to give it a try. This is keeping me from going surfing. Just makes it difficult to get to my feet.

I am taking my grandsons to do something that Harriet and I did each Memorial Day weekend. We would drive the El Camino Cemetery where my parents and her parents are buried. We did this as not to forget them and all that their lives represented. I don't want our grandchildren to forget there heritage. Then I will take them to 15th Street in Del Mar, where I paddled out with my friends and spread Harriet's ashes in the water where I have surfed for so many decades. She wanted her ashes to be where I was going to have my spread by my friends. Then I will take them out to a secret little restaurant for lunch.

The message tomorrow at church is "But God is Able". I hope that you will be in the Lord's House to worship the Creator.

This picture was taken shortly after Harriet found out that she had cancer. About Sept 2014

All these pictures were taken last year between Easter and our last trip to Hawaii in the end of May.
