Not a whole lot to tell you this past month because of the isolation, due to the worldwide pandemic. I hope everyone is doing well and safe. Everyone here is doing fine and I'm self isolating. Joe and Hilda are taking really good care of me and making sure that I have everything I need, God bless them!
I was not able to make any surf videos in April. The beaches are basically closed and the weather was rainy and waves were small.
The most exciting things that have happened in the past month are the software updates I received from my Tesla Model 3. So, if you're not interested in technology, this will not be very interesting for you.
I'm going to include a picture of what my car sees when it gets to an intersection and the lights are green or red or there's a stop sign. With this latest software update, the car recognizes all the above, plus construction cones, trash cans and so on. The amazing thing is that it translates the visual images into something that you can see on the computer screen in your car, and the car knows the distance to each object and whether it's moving or not and the direction and speed. It's really quite amazing to watch.
Now the computer looks at each item and draws a three-dimensional box around them giving all the data as to speed, direction and so on. I'm including a link and some pictures in case you're interested in getting an in depth view of how AI (Artificial Intelligence) works. pic Jan. 2020
As you can see, the on-board computer analyzes the image from cameras
(and other sensors) and then adds layers of identified stuff like
vehicles, people (each with its ID, position and speed) and lines.
