Feb. 2nd Sat.

February 2nd, Ground Hog Day and also Harriet's mother Evelyn's birthday.

I made it home from Hawaii, what a great trip. I posted 19 videos to my YouTube channel. If you have not seen any, go to YouTube, type: Frank Kovacs and then click on my pic, I am wearing a while muscle shirt.

The last morning, Ricardo and his fiance Lisa took me out to breakfast. Here is a picture of us.
Ricardo's friendship and hospitality were the best and unexpected. We spent a lot of time together. He is by far the most knowledgeable man I know concerning Surf and Hawaii History, he spoke and I listened. There are so many interesting things he shared with me and I will incorporate some of the facts info into my future videos.
On Jan. 12th and 13th a big swell came though to Wiamea Bay. On the 12th went to a secret place on the cliffs over looking Wiamea Bay. There are ruins of a Hawaiian temple on site. You are only allowed to walk around the perimeter. After launching my DJI Inspire 2 drone I videoed the waves below. When I landed and changed batteries this pickup drove up and they were playing the Hawaiian music I like and I signaled them in a positive manner that I liked the music and I even asked them what station they were listing too? They told me it was from YouTube.  They were very friendly! One guy was dressed in traditional Hawaiian Garb. He went on the the temple proper and started speaking Hawaiian in a very load voice like an incantation or something.
I was just going to launch my drone again and one of the Hawaiian's came up and asked it I would video the guy and of course I jumped at the chance. This is not a performance, this is the real deal. Only Hawaiian royalty are allowed within the temple grounds. He is a decedent of kings going back about 300 years. 3 Generations before King Kamaiamaia the Great. I am going to include a few pics. The video is way better, but of course the drone does not record sound.
I would venture to say that not many have ever seen this blessing ceremony and to get a video of it is over the top cool! This is Historical for me and not religious.

The next pic is of the Chief and myself. I copied the video files and pictures so that he can have them.
I made dozens of friends and it really was amazing and unexpected. I was just going to video the surf and ended up with this amazing adventure of a Lifetime.

This trip was supposed to be my last trip to Hawaii. The evening before I returned home, Ricardo asked if I would be interested in housesitting his home in April when he and his fiancée fly to Peru for a couple of weeks. I sent him an email yesterday saying that if the offer is still open I would like to do that. So, I'll let you know next month if the trip is on or not. It's sort of an offer I couldn't refuse.

Well, that's it for this month. I'm going to include some pictures of my girl. I still miss her. I was telling my friend Bill yesterday, Harriet's organization skills were incredible. It takes me a long time to put things away and figure out where things go and I'm referring to coming home from a trip and putting things back to where they belong. I love you Harriet!

Maranatha,
Frank
