12-26-15 Sat

Boy did I blow it! I really got the days mixed up and it wasn't until just a few minutes ago that I realized I miss my Saturday morning blog post. Of course yesterday was Christmas. Daniel and I went over to Joe and Hilda's house and had breakfast with them and watch the kids open the presents. It really was a lot of fun and it was Daniel's 1st Christmas home in 17 years.

Pretty much life goes on as before except without my girl. Which means I do my work and then I try and do hers also. I definitely fall short in that department. She was so organized and so clean, it was truly amazing. Harriet spent her 1st Christmas in heaven. I would venture to say that her Christmas was better than ours.

I want to wish everybody a very Happy New Year! Tomorrow morning I'm preaching a message on the past year in review.

12-19-15 Sat.

Good morning everybody! We had Bible class last night and then I went longer than normal. I couldn't quite see the clock and I went over 20 minutes. When you're up on the platform the stage lights shine right in your eyes and it's hard to see the far back wall where the clock is hanging. Then I had a meeting afterwards and didn't get home till late.

So this past week we been all working hard in preparation for our Christmas Sunday service which would be tomorrow and then we have our Christmas Eve service which is on the 24th at 6:30 PM if you would like to come. We will have communion and a candlelight service on that evening.

I hope everyone's focus this next week is not on what Presents they are receiving from others, it's so easy to be caught up with the here and now. We get so busy in our lives we forget the big picture. The greatest gift is God giving his Son so that we might have eternal life. John 3:16

It's kind of tough this Christmas.Harriet has always the one that would write out the Christmas cards. So that means not many Christmas cards are being sent this year. I hope I don't offend too many people. I Do Wish You All a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Frank

12-12-15 Sat

Hello everybody! Well it's obviously the busiest time of year and everybody is preparing for Christmas. It's really interesting to hear what they say on the radio. Now instead of Christmas programs or even holiday programs that the kids put on at school, now it's Winterfest. The secular world does everything possible to remove any hint of Jesus.

I heard last week that a college said that they are not allowed to use red and green lights to decorate because it's too Christian. I realized that the red and green lights have nothing to do with Christianity, but it shows you how for they will go and even further than ever expected to remove any semblance of a traditional Christian Christmas.

Okay I'll get off the soapbox. It just ticks me off. Probably you too. So Daniel is still working like a rented mule. He really does work hard and I'm very thankful for it. He's just doing a lot of good things and making right choices. I thank you all for your prayerful support.

We are having a Christmas eve service on the 24th evening. It's always great to be together and to read the Christmas story & sing Christmas Carols.

During this next week in preparation for Christmas let's remember our priorities.

12-5-15 Sat.

We had another busy week this week. Sometimes it doesn't seem like life will slow down. Daniel is doing well, working hard and he's very thankful for the job and for the work.

This morning Daniel and I are meeting with Joe, Hilda and the boys for breakfast. It's always a lot of fun to eat with them. We just have a good time together and of course the little kids are so cute. I'll try and get a picture of everybody and if I can I'll post it later on today.

We are of course getting ready for Christmas celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It will be a great time.

I thought I might mentioned that it's important for all of us to keep a focus on the priorities for this Christmas season. It's not about the gifts we give to one another, it's really about the gift that God gave to us through his son Jesus Christ.

I was talking to my good friend Lois last week at church and she mentioned how she enjoys the blog and also the pictures. I commented to her that most of the pictures have been seen and she said that she did not mind, she enjoys all the pictures regardless. God bless you Lois

Hilda, Evelyn and Harriet

Tomorrow I'm preaching on another example from the New Testament. There is a young lady in the the book of acts called Tabatha. Her name is translated as Dorcas. She had a very simple ministry and yet she was so important. She's a great example for all of us.

I hope you have a great weekend, Maranatha,

11-28-15 Sat

Good morning everybody! Another week has gone by so quickly and here we are almost at the end of the year. I hope that you had a very nice Thanksgiving day.

This past week I had a lady that was recommended to me to do housekeeping and she came on Tuesday morning and work for 2 1/2 hours. She did pretty much all the floors and dusting and I asked her to clean the stovetop and the sink. I guess these are the areas that I'm not doing very well on. I try to keep things pretty clean but, these are the areas that need the help. I know that Harriet kept everything meticulously clean. I keep watering all of her plants too. It's really funny how this works.

I think I was telling someone at church that I've done more dishes in the past 3 months that I've done in 44 years of marriage. Harriet just always took care of all these things and she enjoyed doing them. I guess you might say it was her gifting. These things were not a chore for her. She loved to keep the house clean and tidy.

Daniel's been working hard and we went over to Joe and Hilda's on Thanksgiving day. Hilda was fantastic insulation point she made a great meal with all the things that we are used to eating, that Harriet used to make. I'm talking, a Hungarian ,, type of meatloaf patties, mashed potatoes, corn and cucumber salad that Harriet taught her how to make. She just did a fantastic job and everything was great.

On Sunday morning I will continue the study that we been doing. I've been taking different people from both the old and New Testament and using them as examples of what we should do and what we should not be doing. This coming Sunday will be Jonah, the reluctant prophet. I hope that you will take the time to be in the house of the Lord this Sunday.

Maranatha,
Frank

Thanksgiving Day 11-26-15

Thanksgiving day is tomorrow and I was just thinking (I know, shocking). Thinking about a lot of stuff. But as you can image, Harriet is on my mind so much. After 44 years, the vast majority of my adult life we spent together. As I look at this and many other pictures....

.. I see a very happy person. I tried to shield her from many things, so she would not have to deal with them. But I can say that she was very happy and content with our life together. I sure miss my girl.

Now that I got that done with, I wanted to wish you all a very good Thanksgiving Day. Make sure you count your blessings, name them one by one.

11-21-15 Sat UPDATED with pics

Dear Friends, I forgot that I have a Baptism this morning at 8:00AM. That is not quite true. I forgot that I need to get up early to write this blog. So I have to leave in a few to go to the beach.
Yes, we are doing the Baptism at the beach in Del Mar, the same place that I spread Harriet's ashes.
So when I get back, hopefully I will have a few picture take Kathleen will take.

UPDATE:
Like I promised here are some pictures. The 1st one is of the beach at Del Mar and this is where I spread Harriet's ashes out in the water. If you look to the center of the 1st picture were all the guys are sitting that's on the reef at Del Mar and where I go surfing. It was a beautiful morning water temperature was 68° in the air temperature was probably around 72, that's at 8 AM.

The next picture is of Victoria, after I baptized her. Then the next picture is her father and his name is Frank. And of course that picture is after I baptized him. It is difficult when you're doing this in the ocean to time it so that you can put them underwater at the exact time and then by the time you lift their heads out of the water the next wave is already coming.

We all had a good time and I thank Kathleen for taking the pictures.

Some of you are aware of this and others of you are not but this past week Daniel seem to rubbed his eyes while he was at work and he must've had something on his hands, either chemical or insulation in erupted into his eyes. This caused severe eye irritation and I had to take him to a clinic on Wednesday morning because he could not open his eyes to drive. It was really bad. Anyway he's doing much better and he told me this morning that he is able to put his contact lenses back in so he is recovering. I'm glad that he's doing well.

We are planning to have a Thanksgiving Day service at our church this coming Thursday. It will be at 9 AM and it will last for one hour, which will include a communion service also. I hope that you take time to count your blessings and give thanks to God. You know it says in the epistle of James that every good gift and every perfect gift comes from the Father above. The question is, are we giving thanks for all he's done for us? It's something to think about and I hope you will take the time to count your blessings and to thank God for them. If you can make it on Thursday morning at 9 AM at church would love to have you. For more information go to the church website which is: www.mbcsd.org

I wish you a great weekend.

Frank

11-14-15 Sat

Good Morning everyone! Well another week behind us. Things are busy here. I am trying to keep things up as Harriet did, but that is a full time job, she was really good and taking care of the house and everything pertaining to it.

Daniel is working hard and enjoy so many thinks. He enjoys trying new foods (I don't). He is going to the classes that he is assigned too. Three classes each week 90 mins each. These are part of the program that he must attend.

The weather has really changed, it was 61 degrees in the house when I woke up this AM. We are having breakfast this morning with Joe, Hilda and the boys. Always a good time. Then we have been invited by our friends Brad and Karen to watch the last soccer game for their daughter Amber. So I am taking some of the boys with me. We always have such a good time together. It helps to fill the void, if you know what I mean. I love these guys.

I will have a couple of new pics next week. I have to scan them into the computer. Well I must get ready to go so I am bailing out for now.

I wish you a great weekend,
Frank

11-7-15 Sat. Late

Well, I put this morning. I had an outing planned with our grandsons Joseph and Timothy and I didn't realize that I forgot to do the blog this morning until it was time for me to leave. Now it's Saturday afternoon and I'm in trouble because I'm getting the blog out late.

Daniel is doing well. He is working hard and getting 40 hours a week. He's also been meeting with my friend Gaylin that I've known for about 40 years. Daniel is going to try and help do some computer work for Gaylin, which Daniel can do from home. I will say that Daniel is quite energetic and wants to get ahead. He realizes that he's missed a lot of years and he's trying to make up for it.

I've been doing the same old same old. Trying to get into the cleaning of some of the things that I realize I've let go. It's not been terrible, but I scrubbed the sink and the top of the range this week. I came across the 5 x 8" card that was in one of the drawers that Harriet had a list of everything that she did on a monthly basis as pertaining to housecleaning. She was very organized to say the least. You'd think I would've learned something from her in all these years. I'm doing better but I'm not in her league.

Tomorrow I'm giving the message and it's going to be about the apostle Andrew. There really isn't a ton of Scripture about him but there are enough verses that we get a good idea about his commitment and priorities. I hope that you'll be able to go to the house the Lord and worship the Creator of the universe, Jesus Christ!

The 1st picture is of Harriet and myself in a canoe at Waikiki in 2001. This was our 1st trip to Hawaii and I actually was able to talk Harriet Into taking a canoe right and writing some waves. I came across to the picture album that she took and put all the pictures from that trip and she made an outline of what we did each day on this adventure. It was really kind of neat to read her take on this.

The next picture is Harriet and me and I can't remember if we were at the Nadzam's Home or not, but that's what I'm thinking.

Frank

10-31-15 SAT>

This last week was busy. Daniel got to start his work. The 1st day was Wednesday and he was up in the attic, shoveling out rat poop. This is good for him. This is the real world. Having this to shovel poop, is a reality check. He's been teamed up with one of the men who is training him on all the aspects of the work he'll be doing. The feedback I get is that he is working hard. And this is a good thing.

Life goes on at the Homestead. Still everything I do and everything that's around here reminds me of Harriet. Now I understand why people who've lost their spouse do the things that they do and feel the way that they feel.

I'm hoping that if you still have your spouse, that you will treat them with love and tell them how much you love them each day. I tried to do that with Harriet and yet I realize that in many areas I fell short.

Tomorrow is the beginning of a new month. Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour. I hope that you will take the time to be in the house the Lord tomorrow.

Frank

10-1-24-15 Sat

Here's our weekly review. Daniel spent Monday and Tuesday getting all his paperwork ready to start his job. On Wednesday he went to work and got outfitted in the uniform the payware. It's work pants and a T-shirt with the logo on it. He got his 1st taste of working. He's very happy to have a job in thankful to be working. Shouldn't we all have that same attitude?

His brother Joe has been extremely generous to Daniel. I keep telling Joe to work Daniel, "like a rented mule". Joe teamed Daniel up with one of the men there to teach them the ropes. I think it's going to be really good for Daniel.

Hilda came by on, and dropped off some toquitos, but she makes for me. It is very kind of her to do this. She also gave me another jar over homemade hot sauce which I love. While they were here Matthew sat in the "command module" chair. I am attaching a picture. He's so cute!

That's about it for now. I hope you have a great week.

10-18-15 Sunday Pic

Good morning, I wasn't planning on putting a Post this morning, but I got a couple of pictures that I wanted to share with you and didn't want to wait until next Saturday.

Daniel and I went out to breakfast with Joe, Hilda and the boys on Saturday morning. Then little Joe and Timothy came home to my house along with Daniel and we played around and had a good time.

I talked to Joe and Hilda about Harriet's exercise machine. It's the kind that you peddle, but you also work your arms back and forth sort of like a skier using a ski pole, but with much resistance both for your legs and your arms. Joe and Hilda said that they would like it so Daniel loaded up in the back of his pickup truck and the 3 of them squeezed into the front cab. You have 3 full-size guys in the cab of this little pickup truck and you can see the look on their faces. Daniel was laughing so hard, because Timothy had to sit in the center.

Have a great week,
Frank

10-17-15 Sat Update

I will complete this morning, that never happens. So I get up at 3:30 or something in the middle of the night and then later I ended up going back to sleep and didn't get up till 7 AM. What a Slackered!

Well Daniel did make it to the new sober living home. He's already here at my house. He told me it was really rough because the guy that is sharing the room with snores so loud, that Daniel finally got up and went out and slept in the living room on the sofa. That is tough.

I think I might have posted this picture before. It's taken at Seaport Village somewhere around 30 years ago.

This picture is taken about 15 years ago and it's Harriet, Hilda and Timothy is in Harriet's lap and then you have little Joe who 17 years old now. Joe was so cute and Timothy was just a little blob at that time now he's a big lug (I love the big lug)

Thank you for the notes and emails, I appreciate the encouragement to continue the blog.

Tomorrow Sunday and Pastor Mike is preaching at our church I hope you can make it.

10-15-15 Thursday

Well Friends, I received so many emails encouraging me to continue the communication on the blog, so I'll update it at least once a week, probably at the end of the week, Friday or Saturday.

I didn't realize how important this was for you who have stuck through thick and thin with Harriet and myself for all these years.

Daniel came by late yesterday afternoon. He attends a class in the morning and then is free and he went down to Mission Beach and did some body surfing. He just loves the ocean! You can imagine being in prison for 17+ years and now he loves the outdoors.
Right a crossed Mission Gorge from our house is a large area for hiking and jogging. It's sort of a nature preserve. So Daniel took his camera yesterday because he likes to go jogging up in the hills. I'm going to include 4 pictures that he took yesterday. You get an idea of what it's like. He jogs here a few times a week.

The 1st picture is a view of the hill/mountain that he's going up to the top.

You can see that someone has added some type of steps.

These last 2 pictures are a view from the top

I might mentioned that this last picture is the view looking toward the ocean. If you look very carefully along the horizon, where the sky meets the land, just to the right of dead center is the tip of Point Loma.

So that's it for today, I will give you an update on Saturday. We'll find out if they actually move Daniel into the sober living house. It's supposed to happen on Friday and will see.....

Frank

10-14-15

I've been thinking about the reason I started this blog in the 1st place. When Harriet got sick in August of last year, Harriet's sister, Lee Ann recommended a blog to disseminate information. I think it's time to put this blog to rest.

I appreciate everybody's support and their kind well wishes. I think the blog is now turning into a diary of daily activities and that was not the original purpose.

I will be posting some info when Daniel has made some progress. He is scheduled to move into the Sober Living house on Friday of this week, but I have heard that before. Once there he can be employed.

So I'm going to say thank you one and all for all you've done and I wish you nothing but the best.

Frank

10-13-15 Epic Tue.

I got to go surfing this morning and the ways were just excellent. Not only the size which would be at least had a high 2 overhead sets, but the form was just exceptional. I think my friend Ken got the most waves this morning and the best waves and the wave of the day. I got my quota and then some. These are the days that makes it all worthwhile. I think my friend Ken and I have been surfing together for over 25 years. When I paddle out and am sitting in the Lineup, it hard not to thing about when Ken, Brad, Daniel, Sarah, Roy and the boys paddled out and put Harriet's ashes into the sea.

My longtime friend Mary Ann is coming over to clean our house. It's been a while and I try and keep things picked up and so on, but I think everything needs a good vacuuming and scrubbing. When I got up at 4:30 AM this morning I stripped the bed and put all the linen into the washing machine so it would get washed while I was gone and as soon as I returned from the beach I put it in the dryer. This way I was hoping that between the 2 of us we could put the sheets and bedding back on the bed. I really appreciate her willingness and so many people have offered, it's just hard because I don't want to take advantage of anybody.

I hope you have a great day,
Frank

10-12-15 Mon.

Yes, you're right, I forgot to post the blog yesterday morning before church. Things are so busy on Sunday morning. I'm still trying to get used to making my own breakfast, what a concept. I got one of those new cooking pans that nothing will stick to, but it's not Teflon it is made of some material that the eggs will not stick to it. Very cool.

Daniel is doing very well driving and is anticipating moving into the sober living house if it passes inspection this Thursday. This is at least the 4th time that they were supposed to have an inspection and it didn't come off. What can you expect from government agencies? The height of inefficiency.

If he ever gets to move into the sober living house, then he can start working and making money. Obviously this is very important.

I hope you have a great week,
Frank

10-10-15 Sat.

The good news is the Brother Al got to come home. I included a picture in yesterdays Blog Post.

Tomorrows message will be from one of Jesus parables of the Wise Steward.

I hope that you are planning to be in the House of the Lord tomorrow. God wants us all to make it a priority.

That is Timothy and Joseph along with Harriet, but about 7 years ago I am guessing.

10-8-15 Thur.

I wanted to give you an update concerning our brother Al Clarkson. Phil in Regina went and visited last night. Here is there message:

"Dear Pastor Frank, Phil and I went to visit Al tonight at the hospital and to our joyful surprise he is doing so much better. Cathy was also there and she wanted me to pass this along to you so you could pass it along to everybody else. These are her words:

"Here are some of the thoughts you may want to pass along to the family of God at Maranatha..... A special thank you and words of love goes out to all who have cared for Alfred Clarkson in our hearts- the Lord has answered our prayers by extending his life. A build up of fluids under his lungs have seriously cut breathing room and impacted his heart causing it to become enlarged and fluids to form around lungs! All this took time and tests and intense talks with specialist to discover. There are certain he had a weak heart. The cold it congestive heart failure. Dad's legs and ankles are very swollen. After many tests the results came back but his heart was strong but needed support when asked to pump blood through stiff areas. The fluids got together and pressed up into the lungs, through being in the hospital and having access to many specialist and strong interventionist drugs which led to removal of most of the fluids, a game plan for the future..............""

Sorry, but the message was cut off. But at least we all have an idea of how to pray. God bless you for your faithfulness!

10-7-15 Wed.

I went to visit brother Al, at Kaiser Hospital yesterday morning. Of course the parking lot was full and I had to use the valet parking, which is technically free, but it's hard not to give these guys some money.

Anyway, if you're familiar with Kaiser at Zion, the hospital side of the building is the far West wing. As I walk through the doors that open automatically all the memories of many trips to the emergency ward with Harriet came flooding back and it was really quite amazing. The thought that came through my mind almost instantaneously was that I never wanted to come back in this building again. But, sanity prevailed, I was there to see brother Al and that's more important than anything else.

Brother Al is 92 years old. Both of our birthdays are in September just 4 days apart. So whenever we have a birthday, we always celebrated together. He's doing remarkably well. The reason they put him in the hospital is because there are some the tests that they need to run to determine what's going on, they didn't want to do one test and then wait a couple weeks for the results and then do another test and so on. While he's in the hospital, they will do a battery of tests and determine exactly what is the problem. I was there when the doctor came in and she said that there is fluid, not in his lung, but in the space right under the lung and they don't know where the fluid came from or what type of fluid it is? So they're going to determine these things and then figure out what to do.

Harriet and her brother John

10-6-15 Tues.

A really good friend, Al Clarkson is at Kaiser hospital. He is in his 90's and a real saint. Please pray for him and his family. I am going to visit him this morning and let you know how he is doing.

We are all thankful for the rain we have had in the past couple of days. I know that other areas receive quite a bit of rain during the year, but we sorely need it.

10-5-15 Monday

We had a wonderful service yesterday morning. The praise and worship team do a fantastic job and Tony Palmer, did a solo for offering and really nailed it.

Daniel and I went over to Joe and Hilda's for dinner. We have such a good time with the boys. I play this Jurassic Park game on my tablet. The game is free and quite a few months ago the boys talk me into playing it with them. So I collect all the gold coins that you accrue in the game and then I go over to Joe and Hilda's house and let the boys spend them to build up the Jurassic Park. They also have these dinosaur tournaments and Ethan will sit on my lap and battle the dinosaurs and when he wins we all shout hooray! Then it's Samuel's turned and he does the same thing fighting against other people's dinosaurs. It's really kind of fun and the kids really love it, the smile on their face is precious.

By the way Daniel is doing really well driving his little pickup truck with the stick shift. Today will make it 2 weeks since he's picked it up and started to drive a stick shift. It gets easier and easier all the time as you know.

I hope you have a fantastic week,

Frank

10-4-15 Sunday Crazy Chicken Pic

We had a really nice time yesterday with Brad, Karen and the girls. I'm going to include the picture I promised of the kids crazy chicken and her name is Victoria. They have 4 chickens. And each one has a name. The other one that I thought was interesting is Amelia. Because the chicken kept flying over the fence. Very cute. The kids are just great I really love this family. We went out to lunch and had just a wonderful time. The crazy chicken is one of these 2 and I'm not sure which one because they look the same to me.

We're invited over to Mike and Kathy's for dinner (as I mentioned everyone's trying to feed me). I think it's very cute that everybody's trying to fatten me up. Daniel could not make it because he had a previous commitment. But I had a wonderful time of fellowship with them they are great people. It's one of those things that you see people for years at church and interact with them, but in little snippets of time. We had 3 hours of great fellowship. Mike took me around and showed me all the things that he has done to the property and what he's going to do. I told Mike that I need to sit down and rest after that because it made me tired just thinking about all the work he's going to do. They made a lovely dinner and even packed a meal for Daniel that I brought home. I told them a couple of times and I sure wish Harriet would've been here to be with us. By the way Mike and Kathy are the last people we went out to dinner with, before Harriet got so bad that she couldn't go out at all. I mentioned that to them and they remembered that also. I know I took a picture of that outing, but I don't have time to search the files right now because I'm getting ready for church.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic day today!

Frank

10-3-15 Sat.

I'm getting to be quite the slackerd. Sleeping in till all hours of the morning. We had a good Bible study last night. Daniel came over yesterday afternoon and we went to the Bible study together.

Today I get to go to Brad and Karen's and see their kids crazy chickens. They have 2 daughters Amber and Kilee. They live in Ramona and they told me about their crazy chickens so Daniel and I are going there this morning to have lunch with them and check it out. I'll try and take some pictures and have them for you maybe tomorrow. By the way, Brad goes surfing with us on occasion. Both Brad and Karen are hard-working and very nice people and good friends. I love their kids to. They're special!

Mike and Kathy invited us over for dinner. I think everybody's concerned that I'm not eating enough and that's probably the case since I'm losing weight. May I be perfectly frank with you? I'm really not interested in learning how to cook. God bless my daughter Hilda. She makes these fantastic toquitos with chicken. She's made me a couple of batches, two dozen per batch and I have them in the freezer. So I can just take a couple out and microwave them for dinner. Plus Hilda makes homemade hot sauce, that makes you tear up. It is so good! So you as you can see I'm getting a well-balanced diet.

This is one thing that puzzles me. I eat foods that are not especially nutritious. Because they are deep-fried and there's not a whole lot of green vegetables in them. Harriet used to eat all the healthy things and she's the one that got cancer. I may be on to something. Maybe, if you eat enough hot sauce, it would prove to make conditions unbearable for a cancer cell. Just saying..........

Anyway we're going over to Mike and Kathy's for dinner and they're going to barbecue some fantastic food. I look forward to it. They are such nice people.

Tomorrow is the Lord's day. I hope you plan to be in the house the Lord to give all praise, glory and honor to the Creator of the universe and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Frank

10-2-15 Friday

Daniel is still at the transitional housing. They keep telling him that he's moving to a "sober living house", but it needs to pass safety inspections before the house can be habitable. Once he's there, then he can actually start work. He will still need to attend 3 classes each week, maybe minutes per class.

I don't have a whole lot of new information for you. Life goes on, just a little bit different than before. Maybe I should've said a lot different than before. Because even though you have all the same responsibilities and commitments that you must take care of, but my girl  is not here with me.

10-1-15 Harriet's birthday today

Today is Harriet's birthday. This will be a tough one. I've always been under the assumption that as time goes by, there is healing and missing the loved one who was gone on to be with the Lord gets easier. I don't see that at this point. Maybe in 20 or 30 years when my memory fades, then it will be a little bit easier.

I don't want it to be a bummer or downer for you, I'm just telling you as it is right now. I just miss my girl.

9-30-15 Wed

I met with pastor Tony Junior yesterday morning. We had a very nice meeting. I think him so much for allowing us to have the service for Harriet At Sonrise.

Pastor Tony mentioned how nice the service was and also the great fellowship that everyone had after the service and I totally agree. Think you want to know for making it possible.

Looking forward to going over to Tanner's and Bri's for dinner tonight. Daniel will be there also.

I hope you have a great day,

Frank

9-29-15 Tuesday

Did you happen to see the "Blood Moon" send the evening/night? I received a picture that one of the ladies in our church took and I'm including it. Looks pretty radical.

Thank you Linette and Tracy for the picture.

The word for today: Psalms 16:8, I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Have a great day, Maranatha,

Frank

9-28-15 Monday

We had a great praise and worship service yesterday morning at church!

The message I preached use the text in 1st Samuel, when David fought with Goliath. Many of us have giants that we must face in our everyday life. They may not be 9 feet tall, nevertheless they are just as formidable. The importance of remembering that the battle belongs to the Lord and with God all things are possible is imperative.

I still miss my beautiful girl! I guess that's how it's going to be for a long time.

Frank

9-27-15 Sun.

You know what day it is today? "Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!"  Him you will go to church this morning and worship the Creator of the universe, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Daniel is doing better and better each day driving his stick shift little pickup truck. He's very thankful for it and has mentioned quite a few times how he loves his truck.

Harriet had a couple of pictures in the Bible, inside the front cover. That's the reason I'm sharing this next picture with you. Because it was important to her.
I am not sure when this picture was taken, but I know it was taken at In and Out hamburgers in Santee California. Samuel with no front teeth. The little guy is Mathew if it is recent, the past year or so. If not than it is Ethan. When Hilda reads the Blog she will straighten this out, look for her comment. And of course Grandpa.
Harriet loved this pic.

Now a pic of Harriet.

What can I say, but that's my Girl!

9-26-15 Sat.

The adventure continues. Daniel is improving his shifting abilities with his pickup truck. On Saturday morning he can check out of the transitional housing at 6 AM and he doesn't have to be back until Sunday evening. This gives them the opportunity to spend the night at my house.

Daniel wanted to go surfing this morning, so he came by yesterday evening before Bible class and we tried out putting my surfboard into the back of his  pick up truck. I'm attaching a picture of the pickup truck with the surfboard. This is the truck that his brother Joe bought for Daniel. It really is a nice little vehicle. Especially for young man. It gives Daniel the opportunity to learn how to drive a stick and everybody needs a pickup truck or some type of conveyance that can carry things around. (Like a surfboard)
The surfboard has a cover or surf board bag that I made and that's why it has all that floral design. It is to protect the vehicle from the wax that's on the deck of the surfboard and also to help protect the surfboard.
This is my favorite picture of our son Joe and Harriet. The picture was taken on Sunday, May 10 of this year. Harriet was still doing really good and the cancer not come back  yet

I'm expecting to get the replacement keys for my van today, they are aftermarket smart keys that have to be programmed. But they are much cheaper doing it this way then going to the dealership and buying the keys there.

I'm going to include some pictures I have already posted on the blog because, it's my blog and I can do what I want to do. That sounds like a rebellious 2-year-old doesn't it? I'm being totally frank with you as I always them, I miss my wife and I guess I just want to put some pictures on the blog again of her.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend,

Frank

9-25-15 Friday

Strange day yesterday. It started off well, I got to go surfing in the morning. Daniel is still practicing his driving a stick shift.

In the afternoon I stopped at the bank and when I came out the van would not start. It was really weird because the power doors and powered tailgate all worked. But there were no lights on the dash and not even a click when you turned the key to start the car.

I ended up walking down to a mechanics place a few blocks away. I called up Wawanesa, my insurance company that has roadside assistance. After jumping through all the hoops they would send a tow truck. A little while later I called up my son Joe and told him I would need a ride. He was kind enough to come right over and we tried jumping the car. The problem was not the battery, nor in the connection on the battery.

An hour and a half after I made the initial call to the tow company they finally showed up. (Great service) when I tried to start the car a message came on the dash that it was a "bad key". It had not given me this message earlier when I tried to start the car. So we change the plan and have the van towed to my house. I figured that the battery was bad in the smart key. Joe took me to Walgreens and we got a new set of batteries and install them. It didn't do any good. So I went and found Harriet's set of keys for the van. And what's interesting is that it would not unlock the doors but it would start the car. So something is screwed up and I will have to go to the dealership today and see if they can rekey these smart keys that turned stupid.

So that entire adventure took 3 1/2 hours and it was a total waste of time.

9-24-15 Thur.

Daniel is practicing driving his pickup truck and learning how to drive a stick shift transmission. He's making progress and as you know it just takes practice.

I get to go surfing for the 1st time since Harriet's service at the beginning of this month. It was nice to be back in the water and the water temperature is  still in the low 70s, which make it nice. It was nice to get some waves and of course to see all my friends.

9-23-15 Wed.

The joys of learning to drive a stick. Brings back memories for most of us. We got Daniel's little truck over to his transitional housing yesterday.

Daniel will just have to work on it and practice, practice and more practice. Daniel has been at the transitional house for one month. I am told that after two months he can get a job and start working.

9-22-15 Tue.

Daniel passed his driving test, praise the Lord! His brother Joe, has purchased a little Nissan pickup truck and put it in good running order for Daniel. We need to register the vehicle and then Daniel needs to learn to drive a stick shift. Of course many of you learned to drive a stick shift when you 1st learned to drive. But, today most vehicles are automatic transmissions. I'm sure that he will learn as we all did.

By getting his driver's license and his own vehicle, it will give him the ability to have some independence. Of course he will still be at the transitional housing. He's already been there for one month. But, this will free me up so I will not have to go get him and had to teach them how to drive. It took a lot of time and we compressed 6 months worth of learning to drive in just a few weeks.

9-21-15 Monday

Today is the day! Daniel is going to get his drive test at the DMV. He should do pretty good, since we have been practicing so much.
I will let you know how it turns out.

Cyrus Mad-Bondo told us of his recent trip to Hong Kong and the out reach there. Training teachers to reach their own people with God's Word.

9-20-15 Sunday

We have covered a lot of territory. Daniel is doing well with his driving. It is just practice, practice and more practice. It will be nice when he has his license  and can drive on his own.

Today Cyrus Mad-Bondo will be speaking at church and we are all looking forward to hearing him and getting an update on how the Orphans are doing.

9-19-15 Sat.

The weekend starts. More driving for Daniel and me. We are looking forward to having Cyrus speak at church tomorrow morning.

Have you ever had any crazy dreams, or is it just me? Since Harriet has died, I have had some really weird ones.

I hope you have a great weekend,
Frank

We been doing a lot of driving, giving Daniel the experience so that he can take his test next week. We're cramming 6 months worth of practice driving into a couple of weeks.

9-17-15 Video link for Harriet's Service

Daniel is being relocated to a new transitional home a few miles from his previous one. The move was supposed to happen yesterday, but the inspector never came out to check the house. So hopefully it will happen today. Everybody in East county  drive defensively, because were going to be on the streets training Daniel. He's supposed to take his driver's test next Monday morning.

I realized that new people are coming to the blog and I need to keep the video link easily available. So I will try and add that link so if there's anyone who is not viewed the service live, they can always watch the video online.

9-16-15 Thank You! Thank You!

Doing better each day and I sat down and went through all the sympathy cards that we received. There were a whole bunch that we received at the service for Harriet that I had not opened yet. I want to thank everybody for the kind thoughts and great memories that you put into the cards and shared with me. Sometimes it's tough going down memory lane. Makes you kind of, I want to say homesick, more of missing the one you love.

So I'm taking Daniel out to teach them how to drive. This is an alert for everybody in East County of San Diego to stay off the streets. I am including this picture of Daniel behind the wheel, cool, calm and collect, in the high school parking lot learning how to drive.

Actually he's doing very well. We just did that for fun. I think that it's much easier to teach a 35-year-old to drive them a 17-year-old. There's just more maturity and they are able to concentrate better.

Next Sunday Cyrus Mad-Bondo will be speaking at our church. He oversees the work in Africa for World Help. We've been supporting the orphans in Uganda for many years probably close to 11 years now. It's always great to have him in our church.

I want to thank everybody again for their kindnesses during the service for Harriet. Everybody pulled together and I can't say enough nice things about each and every one of you. You're very kind.

9-15-15

Starting to do better. I was out and about yesterday. Unfortunately Daniel caught what I had and was really sick Sunday night-Monday morning. I am hopeful that he will get over it a lot quicker because of his youth.

Psalm 119:71 says " It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees".

Doing a little better this morning. I've lost almost 10 pounds in the last 4 days. Still dealing with some symptoms. Sorry I don't have a whole lot of positive news for you. Hopefully I'll be over this in a few days and get my strength back.
