Sat. 4-30-16

Top of the morning to you!  I hope you had a great week. Things have pretty much settled down here into a routine. Of course on Sunday we have church and I usually preach. During the week it's taking care of all the background things that need to be done in the church setting. Friday night's Bible class and then on Saturday I try and take some of the grandkids out for an outing. This morning it will be special. I'm going to pick up 4 of the 5 boys and take them to see the movie Jungle Book. I don't know if you ever saw the original movie? It's a movie I've always enjoyed and it's pretty much G rated movie. I enjoy spending time with the kids. There each so special. When I take them to the movies I feed them all sorts of trash foods.

That's something that I need to ask God about when we get to heaven. How come all the foods that I like are not good for me and the foods that are good for me I don't like? Or how come all the foods that are good for me taste terrible and the foods that are not good for me are very tasty?  It probably has something to do with the curse that was placed on man back in the garden of Eden Genesis chapter 3. People always say that you need to eat healthy foods. It sure didn't help Harriet any. She always eat healthy foods. That's why I always figured I was going to die 1st.

So my big adventure this week was trying to cook potatoes O'Brien. I'm going to include a picture of the finished product. I figure trying to cook something new once a year is enough. I know, how narrowminded! Do you realize how much cleanup it takes to clean up a pan that looks like the one you see in the picture? I did soak it all night long and then scrub it in the morning. There is a work to reward ratio that does not compute. I guess the next time I eat potatoes O'Brien will be at a restaurant.

We have Cyrus Mad Bondo coming to speak at our church this Sunday which is a real treat. He works for World Help and he's in charge of Africa. We've been supporting the orphans in Uganda for over 10 years. He's really a great guy. I will try and get a couple of pictures of him and me together on Sunday and include them in the blog next week.

I hope you have a great weekend. Maranatha!

Sat. 4-23-16

Our grandson Ethan, had his birthday last week and I have the pictures for you. He just turned 6 years old. He's really a nice little guy.
I have a housekeeper that comes once a month to do the things that I really don't want to do. Like vacuuming, cleaning the tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms, cleaning the bathrooms and the kitchen. She cleans the hardwood floors also.  She's very nice and very efficient. I'm thankful that my friend Ed recommended her to me.

It's been a pretty quiet week. Just taking care of things at church and training people to do their tasks to help out the children's church.

This Sunday the message will be about Missions. The following Sunday, May 1, we will have Cyrus Mad Bondo
preaching.  He was an orphan in Uganda that was adopted by a missionary lady who raised him and brought them back to the United States. He's  well-educated, well spoken and an extremely nice guy. We been helping to support the Uganda orphans for over 10 years.

I hope you have a great weekend, Maranatha,

Frank

4-16-16 Sat. Taxes are done

The day after tax day! Aren't you glad it's over? I had some excitement on Thursday. I received a call on Wednesday afternoon from my grandson Joseph. He'll be 18 this summer and just got his permit. So I told him that I would take him out for some driving instruction. I've taught all my kids to drive and Hilda to drive that's Joseph's mom. Since school was in session, I couldn't go to one of his large parking lots and let Joseph practice getting the feel of turning, breaking and accelerating. I took Joseph to East county, out to Blossom Valley. It's been a long time since I've been there and it's gotten busier in the last 20 years.

So we were doing pretty good practicing driving and then I received a call from Hilda. She had dropped Samuel off at school in Kearny Mesa and stopped in to do some shopping at Target. A young gal 26 years old had back into her Jeep. She claimed she did not have her license with her and insurance. I instructed Hilda on what to do.

Over the course of the next 15 minutes I received 2 more phone calls. The young lady was refusing to give Hilda her driver's license. Finally I talked to her on the telephone and told her that this is part of the law that you're supposed to exchange information. She kept telling me that she is leaving the country in one month. I told her it doesn't make any difference, you're supposed to exchange information.

What happened, I end up having to drive from East county to Kearny Mesa and give Hilda some backup. By the time I got there which is a good half an hour drive, she'd come up with her insurance which was her parents not hers and also had given Hilda her driver's license. I had instructed Hilda to take a picture of her driver's license and to take a picture of her car and make sure the car's license plate is visible.

Well, the damage was almost insignificant. It did not make contact with the car proper only with the bumper and you almost have to pointed out to somebody to see what happened so it really was not a big deal. That was the excitement for the week.

My good friends Tom and Teresa surprised me on Sunday and gave me 2 cans of "Throwback Mountain Dew". I took a picture of the can. It made me smile when I saw the picture of the little guy on the can, because it's been a long time since they've changed that logo. It was fun to see in the course Mountain Dew, is so good for you!

I found a picture and I'm not sure if I posted this picture before. I scanned it and I'm including at the very bottom. Little Timothy and little Joseph are sitting on our laps. This picture was probably taken approximately 15 or 16 years ago.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Frank

4-9-16 Sat

I got caught up in doing all the activities around the house that Harriet used to do. It's surprising guys, all the things that our wives do for us and for our household each week. I just got finished putting the laundry away.

This last week went pretty well. We did get some rain here in California which is much-needed. I received a really nice package from Sarah and her family. It had a whole bunch of bacon accessories, like a bacon calendar (everybody needs one of these) and other bacon accessories.

We were studying the Book of Revelation chapter 19 last night in Bible class. It is the high watermark when Jesus Christ returns to the planet Earth and establishes his authority and rule from Jerusalem. It's going to be great!

Daniel is doing good he's working hard. I don't have a whole lot of updates for you concerning Daniel.

Tomorrow morning's message will be concerning "The Lord's Prayer". I hope that you will take the time to attend your church and to thank God for all he's done for you.

Frank

4-2-16 Sat. Daniel's place

It's almost 4 AM here. I wanted to get the blog posted early this morning because I'm heading down to the beach for the Dawn Patrol. It's time to start surfing again. After Harriet died I was not taking iron pills and I seem to be anemic, having a low iron content causes a person's body to feel cold all the time. That's not good when you go surfing real early in the morning and 60° water. Even though I have a good wetsuit, it's hard to get out there when you're starting out cold when you get out of bed.

Last Saturday I went over to Daniel's house and took some pictures. I'm going to include them in this blog because I know a lot of people have helped him to get his start. Daniel has a one bedroom apartment in East county San Diego.

Daniel's apartment is very nice, clean and perfect for starting out. I want to thank everyone who helped him to get his fresh start.

Tomorrow morning I will be preaching about: Why did God give man free will?. I hope you can make it to church and take time to thank God for all he's done for you.

Maranatha,
Frank
