8-26-17 Sat.

Do you remember the plant that I forgot to water for a few months after Harriet died? I don't know if you remember but quite a few months ago I wanted to do a little experiment and turn the plant 180° and see if the leaves would turn toward the light. Here's a picture I just took of the plant.

That's pretty cool that you think?

This past week my friend Larry and I did some practice flying here in East County there's a place we call the Sandpit. I can't remember if I've posted a photo of this but the next time I go I will take a aerial picture so you can see how it got its name. The waves have not been good this past week.

On Monday night at Bible class my good friends Tom and Terri were there having just returned from their RV excursion around the United States. Really great people. I guess I should say I have so many great friends that I'm blessed.

Our daughter Sarah is coming to visit in September. I'm really looking forward to seeing her. I'm sure that I'll be posting pictures of her and the things we do.

Last night I went to a dinner for new members at EVCF. I must tell you that I really like Pastor Jack. He's got such a great sense of humor and he so on target, that it's scary. The reason I say that is because after he finished sharing with everybody and answering all the questions, I went to him and told him the same thing. I don't know if you've ever met someone and as you and that other person are having a conversation their unknowingly saying the same things that you been saying for years? I would like to encourage  everyone that if you are looking for a church, come and try EVCF. It's located right next to where Marshall Scotty's playground was located off of the Lake Jennings offramp in East County.

I guess that's it for today. I'm picking up the kids later on this morning for an outing and that's always fun. This afternoon I'm going over to my friend Brad and Karen and their daughter Kylie. More great people!

Have a great week and don't forget; Maranatha!

8-19-17 Sat.

Busy week this past week. Do you ever have a period of time when you do things different that normal and you get out of sinc? That seems to be this past week. That is why this blog is being posted later than normal.

My friend Larry and I went out yesterday and videoed and we will be going out again this morning. During the summer the waves are small and few. So when a swell pops in for a few days, we must take advantage of it.

My friend Janie Verhoek's daughter, Emily, was married yesterday afternoon. It was a really nice wedding out of doors at El Monte Park. Pastor Mike and Denise drove down for the wedding and will be at church tomorrow. Always great to see them.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Maranatha!

8-12-17 Sat.

We had a very unusual event this past week. Last Monday Larry and I were videoing our friends surfing. The waves were really tiny, but my friend Dr. Brad and his daughter Mia were out surfing and I wanted to make sure to get a video of them.

We been videoing for about forty-five minutes when my friend Larry spotted a whale in the water between the beach and the surfers. The whale was about 20 feet long and traveling by itself as opposed to in a Pod. My friend Ken who was also there and mutual friend, asked me to take a frame out of the video and make it a picture and here it is below so you can see what it look like.

From left to right in the picture is Mia, Ken and Dr. Brad and of course the baby whale. He was awful cute. I heard on the news yesterday that this whale should've already been in Alaska along with all the other gray whales. I did post a video and I'm going to include the link. I will tell you that I added the sound. The whale song was added because it really enhances the video. But, to get the whale sound you have to put the microphone in the water. That's why people on the surface like the surfers could not hear it.

That's about the most exciting thing that's happened recently. I did not know that Brad's cousin goes to the same church I've been going to. So, Brad and Mia came to church on Sunday morning and he introduced me to his cousin and her husband. We went out to get Mexican food after church (what a surprise, right?). Here's a picture of the three of us.

Longtime friend. We surf together for many years. Brad moved up to the San Francisco area because of a job opportunity. Brad and our friend Ken and myself were the first three in the water for many years. The morning of Harriet's funeral, we did a paddle out with her ashes. I did not know in advance, but Ken new, Brad drove down for the funeral and the paddle out. It was a real surprise to see him that morning because I sure didn't expect them to drive all the way from San Francisco. These are the type of things you don't forget. Brad and Ken are my good surfing friends. Longtime relationship.

Okay I think that's it for today. I hope you have a great weekend.

8-5-17 Sat.

Did anyone figure this out? This was from last weeks post.
If you try to read that sign you'll notice underneath it in the smaller print it says "Roma 6/23". This is the scriptural reference and I know you know this verse it's a standard memory verse.
"23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

I was only three years old when we came to the United States so I've never learned to read Hungarian but since my parents spoke it around the house all the time until their dying days, I can sound out these words. It's very phonetic. I thought it was a straight translation but I never stopped to actually try and figure it out.

Something you may know or maybe not that there is something called "Google translator". You type in the words on the left side and you choose the language that you're trying to translate and then on the right side you select the language you wanted to be translated too. So I checked to make sure the translation is accurate, this is what the sign says, "God is the gift of grace of our Lord Jesus Christ". Realistically it should say, "God's gift of grace is our Lord Jesus Christ". Sometimes when you directly translate things straight across to they don't make sense because of the grammatical configuration.

The fun thing that happened last weekend, my friends Bruce in Susie along with their families, drove down from Simi Valley and stayed at the RV park in Chula Vista, right on the Bay. I took this picture using my drone. The two young boys to my right, are Bruce and Susie's grandchildren and they are a lot of fun. They really enjoyed all the toys I like to play with. So we had a blast.

I went there both Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. On Saturday afternoon Bruce barbecued some tri-tip and it was delicious! I don't think I've had anything that good for quite a few years. Very nice family and friends.

There was a real surprise this week my good friend Dr. Brad came down from San Francisco along with his wife in kids to visit the extended family. Brad was part of our surf crew and he lives in Del Mar, but he had to move up to San Francisco because of his job. So he shows up in, but he brought his surfboard so I got to see them yesterday at the beach when Larry and I went and videoed. Interestingly enough he asked me what church I'm going to now and I did not know this but his sister and her husband are going to the same church. I've never met them but I'm looking forward to meeting them this Sunday because Brad and the family are coming to church also.

Brad is in the center the picture the closest person and Ken is sitting right on the other side of them. The three of us used to be the first ones in the water each morning and we did this for years until Brad had to move.

That's it for today. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Maranatha,
Frank

PS. Tomorrow it will be 2 years since Harriet went home to be with the Lord.
