8-13-15 Daniel coming home....................................

I received the call today that Daniel will be able to come home next Tuesday morning 10-18-15. So Joe, Little Joe, Timothy and I will go pick him up.
The date for Harriet's service is Sept. 5th. Pastor Tony Jr. is gracious to allow us to use Sonrise for the service and anything else we need. I will update this blog on a regular bases as I get more info.

Jesus reveals spiritual truths

John 14 1-4 “You must not let yourselves be distressed—you must hold on to your faith in God and to your faith in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s House. If there were not, should I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? It is true that I am going away to prepare a place for you, but it is just as true that I am coming again to welcome you into my own home, so that you may be where I am. You know where I am going and you know the road I am going to take.”
5 “Lord,” Thomas remonstrated, “we do not know where you’re going, and how can we know what road you’re going to take?”
6-7 “I myself am the road,” replied Jesus, “and the truth and the life. No one approaches the Father except through me. If you had known who I am, you would have known my Father. From now on, you do know him and you have seen him.”

This is the JB Phillips Translation of the NT. Comforting words in times like these, from Jesus.

8-9-15

May I be perfectly frank with you? I'm going to start blogging each day for both you and for me. When we go through the trials and tribulations of life, we need the encouragement to persevere.

Who or what is your refuge in the time of the storm?

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
Psalms 46:1-3

Today is Sunday morning and I hope that you will go to the house of the Lord to worship the Creator and our Redeemer, Jesus is his name. When we meet together with other Christians, we have the ability to draw on each others strength. To give each other comfort. I hope that you will not put it off.

8-6-15 Home with Jesus

It was a very difficult week. Just last weekend our daughter Sarah and her husband Hans were here visiting with us. Harriet was still up to spending time with them each day and with Joe, Hilda and the boys.

Her health deteriorated rapidly starting Monday. On Tuesday morning when I got up, she had a smile on her face and we talked. Sarah and Hans came over and told Sarah's mom goodbye because they're going back to Ohio. Tears were shed.

From that point on Harriet's health deteriorated rapidly and she was in tremendous amount of pain.  Hospice came out and along with them, doctors, nurses, social workers and more. I was giving Harriet pain medication almost hourly around-the-clock.

Ladies from our church came over in the morning and in the late afternoon to help with Harriet. By this time she already  was in the hospital bed that hospice has provided.

Thursday her condition continued to decline. Joe and Hilda came over on Thursday afternoon. About 15 minutes after they left, Harriet went home to be with the Lord.

I know that she is without pain and in a much better place now. The Bible says "absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Both Harriet and I believe in God's Word and we have the assurance that we will see her again.

The one thing that was very disappointing is that the governor has not signed Daniel's parole yet. Thereby missing the opportunity for Harriet to see Daniel one more time. I will continue to update this blog at least weekly on Saturday morning and give you any information I have concerning Daniel's homecoming.

Daniel asked me last week that if mom goes home to be with the Lord, would you be willing to wait and have the memorial service after I come home? I told him yes, if the governor signs your parole papers in a relatively timely manner. So I will keep you updated on that.

That's all for now. As you can imagine I miss Harriet terribly. This is the 1st time in 44 years that we been really a part.

With love,
Frank and Harriet

8-1-15

It was a very difficult week this past week. It started off with going to the doctor and talking to him about Harriet's feet and legs retaining water and swelling up. They prescribed a pill that would help the body to get rid of some of the water, but this pill drains the body of potassium so you end up having to take a potassium pill to offset the 1st pill. I know, very confusing.

So on Monday evening I gave both of those to Harriet after her evening meal, because they had to be taken with food and with a full glass of water. Well, she had a terrible night and most of the next day. It's the potassium that wreaked havoc on her body. She actually was supposed to take two potassium pills not only gave her one.

So, after that event I was trying to play catch-up and alleviate her pain with the diludid. Enough to say that it's been a really rough week.

Our daughter Sarah and Hans are arriving this morning. So it will be nice to visit with them. They will be here Saturday and Sunday and then on Monday they leave to go back to Ohio.

By the way, Daniel is not coming home today. There seems to be a rumor around that Daniel is arriving today and that is absolutely not true. I have no idea how these things start. The last we heard is that the parole paperwork is on the governor's desk and we've done everything humanly possible to encourage him to sign it immediately instead of waiting 30 days which is his normal procedure.

Hopefully he will be home soon. He calls me every Saturday morning and it's nice to be able to talk to him.

Tomorrow morning my message title is "Spiritual Stubbornness". We all know how difficult it is when we see a young child who is throwing a temper tantrum and digging their feet in, because they don't want to comply with their parents wishes. By the way those parents wishes are always for the best interest of the child. Yet the stubbornness of a child is something that we really don't like to see. You can imagine what God thinks when he sees that same trait in human beings that are "adults" and call themselves Christians.

I hope that you'll be in the house of the Lord to worship the Creator tomorrow morning!

Maranatha,
Frank and Harriet
