6-4-16 Sat.

We had movie night last night at church. We watched the movie "Risen" which came out earlier this year. It is about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, but from and unbelievers perspective. The main character was the Tribune that was in charge of the crucifixion, then the burial of Jesus. Of course then he was in charge of finding the body of Christ. Well done and worth watching. Not 100% accurate, but aside from that, very well done, everyone liked it. I brought the grand kids to watch the movie too.

The only news is about my dumb right hip. I went the Dr. and told him that the pain in the area where I had my first hip replacement about 6 years keeps getting worse. He seems to think that the muscles in that area are inflamed and recommended physical therapy, which I will start at the end of the month. Not sure it will work, but I have to give it a try. This is keeping me from going surfing. Just makes it difficult to get to my feet.

I am taking my grandsons to do something that Harriet and I did each Memorial Day weekend. We would drive the El Camino Cemetery where my parents and her parents are buried. We did this as not to forget them and all that their lives represented. I don't want our grandchildren to forget there heritage. Then I will take them to 15th Street in Del Mar, where I paddled out with my friends and spread Harriet's ashes in the water where I have surfed for so many decades. She wanted her ashes to be where I was going to have my spread by my friends. Then I will take them out to a secret little restaurant for lunch.

The message tomorrow at church is "But God is Able". I hope that you will be in the Lord's House to worship the Creator.

This picture was taken shortly after Harriet found out that she had cancer. About Sept 2014

All these pictures were taken last year between Easter and our last trip to Hawaii in the end of May.

5-28-16 Sat.

Our daughter Sarah sent a flash drive with a bunch of pictures on it. I want to share couple of these with you because they are newer pictures in the sense that they've not been on this blog before.

The 1st picture is when Sarah and Hans and the family came to visit in 2009. From left to right it's Hilda, Sarah and Harriet. The picture was taken in Joe and Hilda's backyard by the pool.
This picture is taken on the same day as I'm being attacked by the grandchildren. As you can see I'm really suffering.
This picture was taken in 2012 and these are Sarah's beautiful children/our grandchildren.
Good times to remember.

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and we are going to do a tribute to all those who have given their lives as the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be free to worship and live our lives.

I hope that you will be in the house of the Lord this Sunday.

Maranatha,
Frank

A friend of mine wanted to see a surf picture. This was in December and you have to wear headgear because the water is so cold when you get your head wet, you get popsicle head it's like a brain freeze. This was taken at 15th St. in Del Mar overhead wave.

Sat. 5-21-16

I have some new pictures for you. But before I post the pictures I wanted to remind you of my friend Lois who has a great blog that she puts out once a week. If you've not signed up for it I would encourage you to go to her link which I'm including and get on the automatic email from her blog. It comes out every Thursday and it's short, sweet and it's excellent.

On Tuesday evening I went to dinner at my good friend Tanner's and Brenna's home. Tanner's mother Janie who is a really good longtime friend was there also. We had a really nice time and I got to see their new house and of course little baby Lincoln. He is so cute! When I first came in and of course wanted to be friends with little Lincoln, he started crying because I think I scared him. So I tried again a little bit later on and he started crying again. Tanner made a great comment, "You're the 1st bald person he has ever seen". We all had a good laugh. By the end of the evening I got to hold Lincoln and he was my friend.

Isn't he beautiful!

I received a lot of encouragement to get one of these little toaster ovens. It works great! I'm including a picture of the little oven and also the pizza that I heated up. This doubles my cooking capability.

I want to be perfectly frank with you, I always appreciated Harriet and all the hard things that she did and I'm referring to keeping the house and making everything really nice for me. But now that I am trying to do even some of the things that she did I realize how much work it was and how faithful she was doing it. I still miss her terribly. I don't want to make it sound like I miss her because of all the work that she did and now I have to do. I miss her because I love her and she was the best part of my life.

Okay, enough gushy stuff. Tomorrow I continue the message on The Bible Is the Word of God. It's really a great message and I hope if you are able you will be with us at Maranatha Bible Church.

I hope you have a wonderful day and Maranatha,
Frank

5-14-16 Sat.

The big event this week was our grandson Samuel doing a report on his ancestors background and how they came to America. Hilda did a lot of work and she even made some Hungarian cookies to share with the class.

I must tell you that in the first picture in the upper right hand corner is a color picture of my Father and Samuel when he was a baby reaching up and touching my Fathers chin. Very cute. It was take  Thanksgiving 2007.

Samuel on the right side of the picture explaining to his friends in class.

This is Samuel's little brother Ethan.

Samuel and me by his project.

Samuel and Hilda did a really nice job and putting this report together.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. This is one of the top 3 important events that we remember in Christendom. I hope that you will choose to be in the house of the Lord this Sunday.

Frank

Sat. 5-7-16

Cyrus is a really great guy. I can't say enough nice things about him. His lovely wife and family are great. He spends so much time on the road helping to raise money for the orphans in Uganda and other ministries. He showed us some slides of the field which we are helping to pay for to get it graded. That's besides supporting the orphans themselves.

I just realized as I look at the picture of Cyrus and myself that my clothes are really baggy. I hate to do it and spend the money on clothes. I have enough for the rest of my life, but they really look baggy and that stinks. Am I being too frank with you?

I received a lot of good helpful tips on cooking the potatoes O'Brien. Hopefully my next attempt will go better. Thank you for your advice.

There's one more thing I wanted to mention. I've told you before about my good friend Lois who started the blog. It's for busting Bible ignorance. Her daughter is helping her with the website.  Just recently she is upgrading it so that you can insert your email address and the blog will be sent to you every Thursday. I've already signed up, and I encourage you to do the same.

I hope that you will be in the house of the Lord on Sunday morning. I've learned in life that either you find reasons to do so or you find excuses why you don't need to be there.

Sat. 4-30-16

Top of the morning to you!  I hope you had a great week. Things have pretty much settled down here into a routine. Of course on Sunday we have church and I usually preach. During the week it's taking care of all the background things that need to be done in the church setting. Friday night's Bible class and then on Saturday I try and take some of the grandkids out for an outing. This morning it will be special. I'm going to pick up 4 of the 5 boys and take them to see the movie Jungle Book. I don't know if you ever saw the original movie? It's a movie I've always enjoyed and it's pretty much G rated movie. I enjoy spending time with the kids. There each so special. When I take them to the movies I feed them all sorts of trash foods.

That's something that I need to ask God about when we get to heaven. How come all the foods that I like are not good for me and the foods that are good for me I don't like? Or how come all the foods that are good for me taste terrible and the foods that are not good for me are very tasty?  It probably has something to do with the curse that was placed on man back in the garden of Eden Genesis chapter 3. People always say that you need to eat healthy foods. It sure didn't help Harriet any. She always eat healthy foods. That's why I always figured I was going to die 1st.

So my big adventure this week was trying to cook potatoes O'Brien. I'm going to include a picture of the finished product. I figure trying to cook something new once a year is enough. I know, how narrowminded! Do you realize how much cleanup it takes to clean up a pan that looks like the one you see in the picture? I did soak it all night long and then scrub it in the morning. There is a work to reward ratio that does not compute. I guess the next time I eat potatoes O'Brien will be at a restaurant.

We have Cyrus Mad Bondo coming to speak at our church this Sunday which is a real treat. He works for World Help and he's in charge of Africa. We've been supporting the orphans in Uganda for over 10 years. He's really a great guy. I will try and get a couple of pictures of him and me together on Sunday and include them in the blog next week.

I hope you have a great weekend. Maranatha!

Sat. 4-23-16

Our grandson Ethan, had his birthday last week and I have the pictures for you. He just turned 6 years old. He's really a nice little guy.
I have a housekeeper that comes once a month to do the things that I really don't want to do. Like vacuuming, cleaning the tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms, cleaning the bathrooms and the kitchen. She cleans the hardwood floors also.  She's very nice and very efficient. I'm thankful that my friend Ed recommended her to me.

It's been a pretty quiet week. Just taking care of things at church and training people to do their tasks to help out the children's church.

This Sunday the message will be about Missions. The following Sunday, May 1, we will have Cyrus Mad Bondo
preaching.  He was an orphan in Uganda that was adopted by a missionary lady who raised him and brought them back to the United States. He's  well-educated, well spoken and an extremely nice guy. We been helping to support the Uganda orphans for over 10 years.

I hope you have a great weekend, Maranatha,

Frank
